Become a volunteer at Womankind

Volunteering with us is a hugely rewarding and even life-changing experience. Our volunteers are amazing women who give their time and energy to support and empower women to improve their mental health, wellbeing, and the quality of their lives.

You can volunteer on the frontline in our helpline and befriending services, or take an equally important behind-the-scenes role in administration or digital marketing.

If you feel you could bring light and change into the life of another woman, find out more about the different roles below:

Our Helpline volunteers offer non-judgemental listening support to women who contact us via phone or webchat. Our helpline volunteers commit to one 3 hour shift each week for a year.

Our Befrienders provide emotional and practical support for women struggling with their mental health. You would meet your befriendee weekly for 2-3 hours for one year, supporting and encouraging her to become more confident, establish independence, and broaden her social networks.

Remote Befriending

In our remote befriending service, you will speak with your befriendee once or twice a week over telephone or zoom. You will be available for up to two hours a week for six months. You will support vulnerable women to increase their wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem.

Volunteer Administrators provide essential and varied support to one or more of the Womankind services. Volunteers complete traditional office tasks as well as assisting on larger one-off projects, and gain experience in a range of areas across the charity.

Digital Marketing

Digital marketing volunteers provide regular support for our social media and website platforms or even help us to develop our long-term marketing strategy. These volunteers help us communicate with vulnerable women in Bristol, raise awareness of our services, and secure vital funds.

Counselling Placements

Womankind is committed to supporting and investing in volunteer and trainee counsellors and psychotherapists and offers a limited number of placements each year.
