Womankind Confidentiality and Safeguarding Policies

Information for clients

Womankind, Bristol Women’s Therapy Centre is committed to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and safeguarding in all of its work in order to ensure the safety and well-being of women who use the service.

Womankind provides a confidential service and information will not normally be given to any other person or agency without your consent. This includes information about whether or not you use our service. However, there are certain circumstances under which we may need to (or be legally required to) talk to other professionals about information you give us. These are as follows:

• In order to prevent or lessen a serious threat to yourself or another’s safety.
• There is a child protection issue. That is if you tell us about a child or children who are being abused or neglected or who are at risk of being abused or neglected.
• There is an allegation or reasonable suspicion that a vulnerable adult is at risk of being abused or neglected.
• Womankind is required by law to do so.

Should we need to break confidentiality, we will endeavour to seek your consent. If for any reason we are unable to seek or get your consent then we will always inform you of any action that we have taken.
