We are recruiting Befriending volunteers!
Our remote befrienders support women who are experiencing mental or emotional distress. Most will have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse; other presenting issues include childhood abuse, sexual violence, isolation, anxiety and depression, and parental challenges.
You will be matched to one woman and offer her two phone/video calls (of up to one hour each) per week, for 6 months – OR offer one weekly in-person session for a year. You will provide emotional support, including non-judgmental active listening, as well as elements of an ‘ordinary’ friendship, such as having a chat and a laugh.
Our offices are based in Bristol but training and supervision take place remotely, so volunteers from across the country are welcome!
If having read the information above and below you are still interested in volunteering for us, and feel that you would be able to take on the commitment required, then please complete and return the application form AND the monitoring form (also below) and return by e-mail to: laura@womankindbristol.org.uk. Training spaces are limited so we encourage you to apply sooner rather than later.
Closing date for applications: Friday 27th May.
