On Sunday 6th June, Martha set off walking from John O’Groats with the aim of raising £2,000 for Womankind. On Wednesday, 25th August, she made it to Land’s End! Not only had she reached her destination early but she also exceeded her fundraising target!

Martha described completing her walk as “surreal and bittersweet”. She went on to say, “I feel lucky to have been able to take on this challenge for Womankind. They made such a difference to my life, and I know they will continue to do so for many more women. Receiving so many donations has shown me that domestic abuse is an issue that people care about. It’s not something victims should feel shame or guilt for experiencing. The walk also marks a closing point on my past relationship and the start of a new chapter, which I have agency and determination to make my life what I want it to be. Thank you Womankind for helping me get to that point!”

Kyra Bond, CEO of Womankind said “We are so grateful to Martha for WALKING the whole length of the country in support of Womankind and the women we help. We have been following her challenging journey closely and are delighted that she has reached Land’s End, smashing her fundraising target and raising a fantastic £2,235 for us. Thank you Martha – you are such a star!”

Information about Martha’s reasons for doing this amazing walk are on her fundraising page, and it’s still possible for people to donate!
