We are delighted that the BBC has reported on the very positive independent evaluation that the University of Bristol carried out of Womankind’s specialist befriending service.  The service aims to improve the mental health, wellbeing and resilience of women who have been victims of sexual violence so that they are more able to engage, cope, recover and lead more fulfilling lives.  Through the use of trained and supervised volunteer befrienders, it promotes independence, enables women to make the most of their potential, gain in confidence and self-esteem, and reduces isolation by helping them to develop their social support networks.  The BBC report can be read here and the full evaluation report, ‘Opening Doors’ can be read here.
